The future businessman was born in Leeds in 1778. He grew up in a large family. His father was a bricklayer. Joseph decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and also mastered the trade of bricklayer. In 1811, Joseph married Mary Fotherby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1838, the factory was closed and the land was bought by the Manchester and Leeds Railway Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
