Youth and beginning of the political career

During her tenure as the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Al established partnership relations with the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. Then she signed a memorandum of friendship with Oleksandr Novak, who represented Kharkiv at the solemn ceremony.
